The intercommunal group art exhibition "Mirrored Reflections, Memories of Tampered Identities" showcases the works of Zoe Polycarpou, Stephanie Lemesianou, Nurtane Karagil, Memo, Lenia Georgiou and Hayal Gezer. While the checkpoints remain closed and interaction across the divide is restricted to online communication for over a year now, the group exhibition ‘Mirrored Reflections, Memories of Tampered Identities’ presents the works of six Cypriot visual artists who reflect the themes of conflict narratives and the crisis of democracy. The exhibition is organized by Visual Voices, a Cyprus based NPO that focuses on international arts-based peacebuilding. This artivist action comes as part of a larger collaboration through the ‘Art for Remembrance’ project, funded by the European Commission, that take place in 13 cities across Europe. Elia Neophytou, curator of the exhibition adds “during these critical times when social interaction is limited a powerful instrument towards building bridges of reconciliation is required. This exhibition serves as a positive catalyst for enchanting peace building and mutual understanding. It presents a common dialogue for the participating artists who pursue and nurture peace”.

Concept Alden Jacobs, co-founder of Visual Voices states that "as an organization, we believe that visual artists are key communicators with the power to encourage dialogue in their communities and highlight the critical social challenges that limit deeper understanding, cooperation and positive peace." The six emerging artists from across the island meet here to draw a new trail together, with their hands that have different stories, with their own genesis, with their own family narratives- to a peace-wise and unforgotten. Bringing these works together is a sense of new perspectives and long-lived togetherness. The works speak in stark contrast to the common narratives found in today’s mainstream media, that extend to the common beliefs of the people. The works are the personal journeys of going beyond what is told, entering the mirrored universal.
